A new administrations and production building for military equipment is being constructed not far from LBP Engineering’s backyard. Local area knowledge has been important to the client throughout the project.

Military Equipment Denmark (MED) supply target practice equipment, electronic components for tanks, and protective clothing, as well as other types of military gear. The centre of operations is the company head- quarters in Regstrup in the northwest parts of Zealand, Denmark, not far from LBP Engineering home offices. MED’s work requires quite a bit of space, and therefore the company are in the process of constructing new buildings to house an estimated 75 percent of all company activities in the future.

LBP Engineering have acted as client advisers on the turnkey contract which entails the construction of a large building in steel, housing a ground floor for production and a second floor for administration and meeting rooms. The contract builds on a close cooperation as well as a mutual local area knowledge.

“The client had already received offers from several consultants, but wanted a local offer as well. We then helped them find a local entrepreneur, and the assignment rolled on from there. A project like this requires close interaction, and we have the advantage of being geographically close to one another. If I spot something on the construction site that needs to be taken care of, I can get hold of my client counterpart immediately. We guarantee a swift follow-up and make sure that all promises are kept, so that the client in no way gets in trouble,” explains LBP project manager, Anders Porting.

“Our overall assignment is to make sure that nothing unexpected happens – in terms of technical supervision and health and safety measures. At the end of the day, the building owner is responsible for what happens on the construction site. But we are able to move fast to assist them when needed. On a very practical level, my kids go to school across the street from the building site. Being close to our clients is highly valuable in our daily work,” says Anders Porting.

Another particular point of attention of the project has been financial management. LBP Engineering aim to be constantly on top of their game to ensure stability and to keep project finances on track.

“We aim to deal with any difficulties head-on and in detail. For instance, there must be no doubts over whether cable trays are mounted on plaster walls or built into the walls. Issues like these need to be settled early on, so that the project isn’t delayed by a power outlet. In these matters, we can draw on our vast technical experience. In combination with the local presence, this gives us a solid foundation in this project,” says Anders Porting.
